ADVOCACY
We specialise in the following service:
Relevant Paid Person's Representative.
The role of a Relevant Paid Person’s Representative (PPR) is to maintain contact with the person and to represent and support them in all matters relating to the deprivation of liberty safeguards (DoLS). This support has to be completely independent from the providers of the services they are receiving.
What does a PPR do?
Our PPRs will represent the relevant person by:
-
Regularly visiting the person deprived of their liberty.
-
Assisting the person to understand their DoLS authorisation and how it affects them.
-
As far as possible, assist the person to exercise their rights should they wish to do so.
-
Ensure any conditions attached to the authorisation are met and if not facilitate the address of this or refer it back to the supervisory body / DoLS team.
-
Call for a review of the authorisation where necessary, challenge the authorisation through local means where possible or ultimately refer the case to the Court of Protection.
